The Cucurbitaceae ,also called cucurbits or the gourd family, are a plant family consisting of about 965 species in 101 genera.

The plants in the Cucurbitaceae family are grown around the tropics and in temperate areas of the world, where those with edible fruits were among the earliest cultivated plants in both the Old and New Worlds. The family Cucurbitaceae ranks among the highest of plant families for number and percentage of species used as human food.

Josh Freeman was able to see both sides of the coin on the same farm yesterday. On a positive note, the grafted plants really took off this week and are now larger than the non-grafted. On the negative side, conditions have been favorable and we’re seeing Fusarium wilt less than 30 days post planting. Certainly not a positive start for the non-grafted plants so early in the season.
