Josh Freeman on Grafted Plants vs. Fusarium

Josh Freeman was able to see both sides of the coin on the same farm yesterday. On a positive note, the grafted plants really took off this week and are now larger than the non-grafted. On the negative side, conditions have been favorable and we’re seeing Fusarium wilt less than 30 days post planting. Certainly not a positive start for the non-grafted plants so early in the season.

Tri-Hishtil brings together three pioneers in the agricultural industry from around the world to the Mountains of North Carolina to become a leader in plant grafting. Grafting is a very detailed procedure whereby a growth booster (the rootstock) is combined with a promise (the scion). The actual grafting of vegetables with soft tissue stems is an extremely sensitive process, but results in a strong plant with resistance against specific soil-borne diseases.
